Hash
Concentrates may be a fairly new craze for the most part, but the original version of these potent products has been around for many centuries and possibly even millennia; documented use of hash dates back to the 1100 or 1200s, but it has likely been in use far longer than that.
The earliest concentrates were made by rolling trichome resin together into a cannabinoid snowball that hit far harder than your average bud. Today, there are more efficient ways to create blocks of hash, and there are also far more potent concentrates, but the original version still has plenty of appeal.
Types of Hash: The most desirable form of hash is known as bubble hash. It’s made with the help of ice water, and it’s both potent and incredibly tasty.
Oils and Tinctures
Cannabis oils and tinctures are concentrates in liquid form made with the help of a liquid solvent that is used to remove the cannabinoids, terpenes, and other desirable compounds from the flower so they can then be refined and purified.
Cannabis oils and tinctures can be used in vape cartridges or sold in a dropper bottle, which allows them to be applied topically, dropped beneath the tongue, or added to drinks or recipes.
While these types of concentrates can easily be used recreationally, they are often the concentrate of choice for anyone looking to take advantage of the plant’s therapeutic effects.
Types of Oils and Tinctures: The standard form of cannabis oil is CO2, which is made using a carbon dioxide solvent. There’s also Rick Simpson Oil, which was created by the cannabis activist from whom its name is derived. Rick Simpson Oil, which is also referred to as “phoenix tears,” is highly potent and lauded for its therapeutic benefits.
BHO Extracts
Many of the different types of concentrates for sale today are some form of BHO extract. BHO stands for “butane hash oil” and is created through an extraction process that uses butane to strip cannabis flower of its desirable compounds to then be turned into an array of different concentrates.
This basic process allows for some of the most potent and flavorful styles of concentrate to be created, and it has taken this corner of the cannabis world to an entirely new level. Variations to the extraction process are what provide the many concentrate options with their varying consistencies, potencies, flavor profiles, and more.
Types of BHO Extracts: If you’re looking for something dryer and easier to handle, consider crumble or shatter. When you want something sticky to add to a bowl or joint, try budder or badder. If you’re looking for something super flavorful, try terp sauce or live resin.
And if you want your concentrates to be as potent as humanly possible, take a look at diamonds.
