Amounts for Relief Only
If the reason you’re looking to shop cannabis & marijuana edibles is that you’re strictly interested in the therapeutic effects of the cannabinoids they contain, not the euphoric high they can provide, you will want to keep your serving size somewhere between micro and low.
A microdose is considered 1 to 2.5 milligrams, and a low dose is between 3 and 5 milligrams.
Keep in mind that low doses can generally get new users at least a little high, although the intensity of that high will vary and will often be somewhat mild.
Amounts for Recreation
If you’re interested in the euphoria, perception shifting, creativity-inspiring high that cannabis edibles can provide, you’ll likely need to dose a bit higher than 3 to 5 milligrams to really start feeling the effects.
A moderate dose is considered somewhere between 10 to 15 milligrams, and that’s pretty typically where even experienced edible eaters start feeling the effects.
If you’re new to edibles, we recommend you start lower than a moderate dose, give yourself some time to see how it affects you, and then up the dosage from there.
Higher Amounts
Once you’re in the 20 to 30 milligrams territory, that’s what’s considered to be a high dose.
Although some experienced users can handle an amount like this with no problem and even take significantly more than this without any adverse effects, it’s fairly common that people who lack experience can start to have some anxiety, confusion, and possibly even nausea at these larger serving sizes.
However, it’s important to note that some people seeking relief from their marijuana edibles require particularly high amounts to achieve that relief.
While a micro or low dose should help with mild discomfort, worry, and nausea, more intense symptoms can require a stronger dose.
Sometimes, a high, acute (50-100 milligrams) or even macro (100-500 milligrams) serving size can be taken by people seeking relief from severe discomfort or serious medical conditions.
However, this is something you should work your way up to at your own pace, as taking too many edibles too soon can bring some uncomfortable adverse effects.
